Francis E. Scott, 80, Ridgefield native, Korean War veteran

Francis E. Scott, 80, of Laurens, NY, formerly of Ridgefield, husband of Jane (Williams) Scott, died on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta, NY.

Mr. Scott was born in Ridgefield, October 3, 1933, a son of the late Thomas and Mildred (Northrop) Scott.  He attended Ridgefield schools and graduated from Ridgefield High School.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Scott was a retired shipping clerk for Colin Campbell of Danbury and was employed in years past at the Village Market, Wilton.

A resident of Laurens for the past 26 years, he was a 50-year member of the American Legion of Ridgefield and a member of the First Congregational Church.

In addition to his wife of fifty-six years, Mr. Scott is survived by four sons, David Scott, Steven Scott, Timothy Scott and his wife, Sally and Mark Scott and his wife Jannette; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Scott was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Scott and Donald Scott, and by a sister, Beatrice Brown.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 2 PM in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield with the Rev. Dr. Charles Hambrick-Stowe, Senior Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield officiating.

Burial will follow in Bald Hill Cemetery, Wilton.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
