Doris Leontine Coupe Murtaugh, age 95, died September 28, 2015 at the New York State Veterans Home in Montrose, NY.
Doris was born on June 4, 1920 in New York City, the daughter of Thomas L. Coupe and Anne Blackburne Coupe. Doris grew up in Bronx, NY and graduated from Hunter College in Manhattan, NY. On June 15, 1946, she married James Daniel Murtaugh, a U.S. Army Major in World War II. James pre-deceased his wife in 1995. She lived most of her life in Westchester County, NY.
Doris was the loving Mother of five children: Brendan Lawrence (Jeanne) of Naples, FL and Greensboro, NC;Gregory James (Karla) of Ridgefield, CT; Mary Lee (the late Christopher) Bronxville, NY; James Daniel Jr. (Ginger) of Manhattan, NY and Cordillera, CO; and Christopher Drew (Krista) of Bethlehem, CT. Doris was the grandmother of Scott Alexander, Raymond Tyler, Hannah MacLea, Molly Elizabeth, Gregory James, Jr. and William Paca, who pre-deceased his grandmother. Doris was pre-deceased by her sister, Lorraine Coupe Raison and two brothers, Brendan Coupe and Richard Coupe. She is survived by two brothers, Donald Coupe of St. Louis and Walter Coupe of Rye, NY. Additionally, there are numerous nieces and nephews.
