Ronald C. Bassett 82, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 peacefully at home. He was born in Ridgefield, Ct. on November 01, 1931. Son of the late Ronald I. Bassett and Francis Greene Bassett. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Ruth Pagano.
Ronald graduated from Ridgefield High School class of 1950. He was a supervisor at Hobbs Inc. for 40 plus years, while raising his family. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, woodworking and spending time with children as a Boy Scout Leader. He was a member of the Carpenters Local # 120, building many houses in Fairfield County and very involved in forming the Parish of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Ridgebury. He was active at the Village Craftery with his wife for many years. Ron and Betty retired to Myrtle Beach in 1998 where he became very involved in the community and with the Elks Lodge #2797. He enjoyed the pot luck dinners, bingo, his pets and was an avid NY Giants fan.
Ronald is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Elizabeth “Betty” Bassett; son, Greg Bassett; daughters, Elizabeth Childs and Deborah Spadaro; grandchildren, Matthew Spadaro, Rainer and Gwendolyn Bassett; brother, Fred Bassett; sister LouAnn and many nieces and nephews.
