Alun H. Jones, 83, of Ridgefield, CT, husband of Patricia (Coughlan) Jones, died on April 30th at Danbury Hospital.
Born in Wales, United Kingdom on June 15, 1930, Alun was raised in Banbury, England and later lived in Toronto, Canada; Greenwich, CT and Santa Monica, CA before moving to Ridgefield, CT in 1997.
He graduated from Magdalen College and was certified as a Chartered Accountant in the U.K. Alun was the former Chief Financial Officer of the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency; Executive Vice President of the Olympia & York property development company and President of the Phase One advertising research firm in Los Angeles, CA.
In retirement, he was involved with the World Monuments Fund and was an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Association).
He volunteered for the Ridgefield Library and, along with his wife Patricia, was named “Volunteer of the Year” in 2013. He was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling and following his favorite sports teams, including the New York Yankees.
In addition to his beloved wife of 60 years, Alun is survived by sons David (wife, Karen Johnston-Jones) of San Antonio, TX; Michael (partner, Richard B. Hodos) of New York, NY; Patrick (wife, Julia Jones) of Fayetteville, NY and four grandsons: Kevin, Dylan, Jackson and Jeremy.
The family would like to thank the doctors and medical staff at Danbury Hospital, Laurel Ridge Healthcare Center and the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association for their compassionate care during the past eight months.
