Donna Mae Ingoldsby, born, October 31, 1945, in Sacramento, California.
A graduate of La Sierra High School in Carmichael, CA, Donna was a wizard in math, with one her first jobs at Wells Fargo in the San Francisco Bay area.
Donna was an only child and as a young woman had an obsession for fast cars and could often be seen in the Bay Area tooling around in one of six Porsches she owned as a young professional.
She later met and married James Donald Ingoldsby. That union gave them two daughters, Jamie and Brandy Ayn.
Don’s employment took them to Boulder, CO, and then Ridgefield, CT, where Donna settled in as a stay-at-home mom, active in supporting her girls in sports, PTA and volunteer work. Her caring disposition and winning personality resulted her many long-lasting friendships.
Donna joined the Ridgefield Jaycees and the Bridge Club. She was a formidable competitor and teammate. Her service to the town of Ridgefield can never be measured. She retired from Ridgefield Parks and Recreation last January after 20 years of exemplified service. She looked forward with enthusiasm to all that she was responsible for at the Rec Center including growing her staff, scheduling birthday parties, the overnight Ridgefield High School Graduation party and the annual Tag Sale. She loved to travel. Annual trips included family visits to California, Florida, Virginia and celebrating Carnival in St. Thomas.
Donna made friends everywhere she went. From parties to work to travel to antiquing, she always seemed to discover the good in people. She lived life for the adventure and shared her loving spirit with everyone around her. She sought opportunities to try and see new things and invited those around her to join in the fun which resulted in many new and long-lasting friendships. that are still going strong today.
For the past 10 years, Donna travelled to the US. Virgin Islands for Carnival and every year one more friend arrived with her. Donna truly loved and cared for people, plants, animals and the more than occasional stray.
We have lost a devoted mother, grandmother and friend who loved us all unconditionally. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Don. She is survived by her daughters Jamie and Brandy, granddaughter Morrigan, son-in-law Joe Quinn, cousin Russa Robinson and a village of dedicated friends.
Donna died due to complications of a brain aneurysm suffered on January 1, 2016, while walking her faithful dog, Shelby, near her new home in South Carolina.
A service is not yet planned; however, a celebration of life will be planned in accordance with the dedication of a park bench at the Ridgefield Recreation Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Friends of Ridgefield Parks and Recreation, http://ridgefieldparksandrec.org/about-us/friends/
