Michael Ventrella Jr., 66, proud dad, veteran

Michael P. Ventrella Jr., 66, of Ridgefield, CT; passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 20, 2015. He was the loving husband of Karen Ventrella.

Michael was born on June 3, 1949 in Norwalk; son of Michael P. Ventrella Sr. and the late Dorothy (Broadhurst) Ventrella. He attended Norwalk Schools and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.

Michael was a 20 year resident of Ridgefield, CT formerly from West Chester, PA. He was a skilled general contractor and plumber. Michael was a proud stage Dad at the Ridgefield Theatre Barn and active with the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, coaching his children’s sports teams and cooking but mostly spending time with his large family.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Karen of 20 years as well as his father, Michael P. Ventrella Sr. He is also survived by his 5 children: Michael P. Ventrella III (Jane), Melissa M. Peery (Matthew), Meme Thornton (Joshua), Matthew T. Ventrella (Fred), Dominick M. Ventrella, step children Alexander Houck and Nicole Houck-Venable (Sean) and his 11 adoring grandchildren: Connor, Riley, Michael IV, Liam, Nadia, Chloe, Amirah, Koa, Jaxson, Dillon and Katelyn.

In addition to his wife, children, grandchildren and step children, Michael is survived by his two brothers; Patrick and Frank Ventrella two sisters; Nancy and Maureen Ventrella; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 10:15 AM at St. Mary Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, CT. Friends will be received, tonight, Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 5 to 8 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, CT. Interment will be private at the direction of the family.
