Robert T. Judson, 77, veteran, banker

Robert T. Judson, 77, of Oxford, CT, a former area resident and retired president of the Norwalk Savings Society, died on Monday, August 17, 2015.

He was the husband of Barbara (Mutschler) Judson.

A Norwalk native, Mr. Judson was born on December 3, 1937, son of the late Edwin and Edna (Bloomer) Judson.  He attended Norwalk schools, Norwalk High School and was a graduate of the School of Savings Banking of Brown University.

He began his career in banking with the Norwalk Savings Society in 1954 starting as a clerk and over the period of forty five years retired a president.  A position he held from 1977 to 1999.

Mr. Judson served with the U.S. Army Reserve from 1958 to 1963 achieving the rank of Sargent.

A resident of Oxford for the past seven years coming from Duck, NC, he and his family resided in the Ridgefield-Wilton area  for forty years prior to relocating to Duck.

Mr. Judson was a past president and director of the Fairfield County Banker’s Association, a past president and director of the United Way of Norwalk, a past president and board member of the Rotary Club of Norwalk, a former director of the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce, a director of the Five Towns Foundation and a member of the National Council of Savings Institutions.

The family would summer in the Lake Ontario region of NY State where Mr. Judson served as a volunteer with the ambulance corps.

He was a past member of the Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church of Ridgefield and served as a parish treasurer.

He was an avid golfer and along with his spouse of fifty-five years, enjoyed the opportunity to travel.

A true community volunteer, Mr. Judson most especially enjoyed the time he spent with his wife, children, their spouses, grandchildren and friends.

He will be sorely missed.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Judson is survived by two sons, Mark R. Judson and his wife Anie of Brookfield, CT and Scott S. Judson and his wife Louise of Colorado Springs, CO; a daughter, Lysa K. Fritz and her husband Brian of Tewksbury, NJ; a sister, Judith McCullough of Dayton, OH and eight grandchildren, Tyler, Bryar and Keeler Judson, Ashley and Lance Judson and Lindsay, Dylan and Austin Fritz.

Mr. Judson leaves behind his companion, an airdale terrier, Miss Dixie.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be private and will take place in Bald Hill Cemetery, Wilton.

There will be no calling hours.

Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, CT is in charge of arrangements.
