Irene Weck, 90, loved to travel

Irene Weck, 90, a longtime resident of Ridgefield, passed away on July 27, 2015. She was the widow of the late Marvin E. Weck.

Mrs. Weck was born on September 11, 1924 in Monessen, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Koniuta) Koby.

She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business (1961) and worked in New York City as an executive secretary where she met her future husband, Marvin. Irene loved to travel, experiencing new places and people. She and Marvin traveled extensively throughout Europe, Africa and China.

Mrs. Weck is survived by her step daughter Judith Waterman and her husband, William, of Madison, Wisconsin, and their sons, Paul and Steven Waterman. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her aunts, Helen Koniuta and Josephine Deluga.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10:15 am at St. Mary Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.

Entombment will take place in the crypt of St. Stephen Episcopal Church, Ridgefield.

There will be no calling hours.

Kane Funeral Home, Ridgefield is in charge of arrangements.
