Linda Kane Jones

Linda Kane Jones, a Ridgefielder for 42 years, passed away peacefully after losing her battle with cancer January 17, 2015, in Naples, Florida. She was 72 years old, wife of Kip Jones, and had lived for decades on Partridge Drive.

Born August 8, 1942, in Scarsdale, New York, Linda was the only daughter of the late Albert and Dorothea (Harrison) Kane. A native of Ardsley, New York, she graduated from Marymount Academy in Tarrytown, New York, in 1960. Linda studied nutrition sciences at Marymount College and graduated in 1964. She married Kip Jones, a Marine Corps First Lieutenant, just after graduation and they moved to the California desert, calling Marine Corps Base Twenty Nine Palms their first home. Linda always faced challenges with a smile and optimism, including finding a very large scorpion on her front door step when she went to pick up her morning newspaper soon after moving to California. Not one to panic, she dispatched the scorpion with boiling water and went on with her day.

Mrs. Jones was a talented seamstress, baker, knitter and crafter, starting and running her own businesses to provide her the flexibility to be with her four young daughters. As they grew up, she transitioned to real estate and spent over twenty years working in the residential brokerage field. Upon retirement, she and Kip relocated to Naples, Florida, where she enjoyed walking on the beach to look for shells, wearing sandals all year round, and hosting visits from family. Never happy when idle, Linda shifted from retired to “semi-retired” when she opened her successful knitwear and jewelry hobby/business on Etsy, the on-line crafts marketing site.

Devoted to her family, she was a caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Last June, Linda and Kip celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She is survived by daughters Susan (Eric Davis) Jones of Bothell, Washington, Kristin (Didier) Goedert of Pleasanton, California, Alison (Michael) Michaud of Collierville, Tennessee, and Jennifer (Steven Shewfelt) Jones of Evanston, Illinois, and her brother, Todd Kane, of Plainsboro, New Jersey. Linda loved her five grandchildren: Jenna, Lindsay, Luke, Sofia and Finch.

Memorial contributions may be made to Avow Hospice of Naples Florida or the American Cancer Society.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at St. Finbarr’s Church in Naples, Florida.
