Stephen A. Schwank, 49, Marine Corps veteran

Stephen A. Schwank, age 49, of Spring Lake Heights died on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Jersey City, he grew up in the Colonia section of Woodbridge and in Ridgefield, CT. He returned to New Jersey in the late 1990’s.

Mr. Schwank was a graduate of the Southern Connecticut State University, and was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He was employed as a journeyman carpenter through the Carpenters Union Local 2250, Red Bank, NJ.

He was predeceased by his mother, Eleanor Joy Schwank, in November. Surviving are two daughters, Sophia and Isabella (Bella) Schwank; his father and step-mother, Arthur and Linda Schwank of Deerfield, IL; a sister, June Schwank-Montanari and her partner Ton Mesters of Hopewell, NJ; a sister, Brenna Schwank of Deerfield, IL; a niece, Katherine Montanari; a nephew, Thomas C. Montanari; and his former brother-in-law, Thomas Montanari.

Cremation was private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on January 2, 2015 at 9:30am at St. Mark RC Church, Sea Girt. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Stephen’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) would be appreciated.
