Ronald “Ronnie” Rose, a longtime Ridgefield resident, died peacefully Monday morning November 10th at The Jewish Home of Fairfield, CT.
Ronnie was born December 1st, 1935 in Queens, New York, to Philip and Edith Rose. He attended John Adams High School in Queens. On New Year’s Eve 1958 he had his first date with Sandi Serota of Brooklyn New York after they met on the A Train. They were married one year later on January 2, 1960. They moved to South Shore Drive in Ridgefield, CT in 1965.
Ronnie was a professional Philatelist for over 50 years, and had an encyclopedic knowledge of foreign stamps and world geography. He was also a coin enthusiast, amassing a large collection of global currency.
After successfully putting two children through college, Ronnie and Sandi realized a lifelong dream and traveled to Israel in 2000.
Ronnie and Sandi were married for 53 years until Sandi’s passing on December 15, 2012.
Ronnie is survived by his two sons and their families, David and Karen Rose of Mont Vernon NH and Peter and Lauren Rose of Philadelphia PA. Ronnie was a proud “Gampy” and “Pop Pop” to his 5 grandchildren Bryan, Abigail, Joshua, Eli and Charlotte. He is also survived by his brother Jack and his wife Marian Rose of Gaylordsville, CT and his sister Arlene and her husband Howard Isserles of Bayside, NY. In addition he is survived by his nephews Matthew and Adam Rose, and Joseph and Paul Isserles and their families.
Services took place on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY.
